In his works Eisenhart wants to create a common language that resonates the intimate connection of everything around us. Eisenhart’s creations are inspired by nature and his desire to connect the dots to his own story influenced by events in his childhood and onward. Born in Springfield, Missouri (1966), Eisenhart spent his formative years in Worms, Germany after moving there as a child with his missionary parents. He recalls digging around in a construction area along the Rhine River and finding a unique rock with a circular opening...
"A black object stood out against the red earth, far below in a dig site at the edge of the Rhine River. My boyhood curiosity compelled me to climb down the muddy embankment and retrieve the find, a stone with a perfect hole in the center; its circular form was polished and complete. A Stone Age tool, the museum told us. I remember the gravity of realizing this was an object made by ancient man. I felt a strange connection to the creator. I recall the coolness of the smooth stone, feeling the weight of it in my hand, peering through the portal and feeling the vastness of time. I spent many hours looking through the hole created by ancient man. I felt like this was somehow my personal link to the past."
Barry Eisenhart graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Missouri State University in 1991. He has worked as a fitness trainer in Kansas City since 1998. There’s a sculpting analogy here, the real shaping and molding of the human body. His interest in sculpting was sparked by a visit to a neighbor, who sent him home with a bag of wet clay. “I began crafting a figure, and the possibilities of creating three-dimensional images seemed endless. This strong desire to create has not lessened and continues to be something I absolutely have to do. It is a process that is always changing and transforming.
