“Having worked in lithography, through teaching and printing, I had a curiosity; what does a stone and paper really look like inside? I had an opportunity while at the University of Minnesota, through contact with a scientist who had access, to an electron microscope. I had a dozen negatives made and discovered another reality. So after many years of working, with Mike I had a chance to move it forward a step further. Therefore the titles, Stone on Stone and Paper on Paper, allowed me to explore subtlety of color.”
